Chapter AZ-A
Weekly News Letter

The Oct16 Inaugural Ride to the Steak-Out in Sonoita was a success. Good weather (not hot) and great food! (see photos below)

The FIRST Tucson Pioneer WR AZ-A chapter meeting is now scheduled for 8:00 AM October 22nd, at the Golden Corral, 4380 East 22nd Street.

This is a very important meeting as we will elect any new officers as necessary and approve /adopt our new bylaws.

I believe it is important to try and keep our current chapter ALL TOGETHER as we manage the shutdown of GWRRA, so please join us if you can.

There will also be a Tucson Pioneer WR ride Saturday afternoon Oct 22nd, leaving TTT Truckstop at 3:30PM bound for Sierra Vista, restaurant location to be determined.

Todays TucsonPioneer WR monthly chapter meeting was held, good turnout, all chapter business was discussed.
Randy Wasser is the new Ride Coordinator.
It was voted that the December meeting will be skipped because it falls on Christmas eve, so the next chapter meeting will be held at 800AM on January 28, at our normal location, Golden Corral east 22nd street.

New Member Intro -- John Burton, Eagle Crest (Saddlebrooke)

Bought my first GoldWing -- 1800DCT -- 18 mos ago. Love it. Previous bikes included at ST1300 and a BMW K1300GT. Multiple IronButt rides.

I like to go out for 4-6 hrs. This time of year the eagles are in at Roosevelt, Salt River Canyon, Show-Low lunch, AZ 177 from Winkleman to Superior are all good rides. I am currently a member of SEAT.

Looking forward to getting to know the members here and have some good rides out.

Riding Friday morning --

Judy's and the Eagles

Depart Circle K in Catalina for Judy's Cookhouse in Globe.
Kickstands up, bladders empty 0800

After breakfast, I'll go up to the Roosevelt dam and look in on the eagles.

Riders can pick their own way home -- Chose via Florence, or 177 from Superior to Winkleman, or return the way we came out.

Speak up if you are planning to come along-- It's good to know how many to expect.

No response on the ride this morning -- Not unexpected since I really didn't give anyone much warning.

If I don't hear from anyone, I'll be rolling from the K at 0700 (one hour earlier than original post). If you are coming, text me at 480.326.0412 and let me know. We'll figure it out from there

I'll talk to Randy this week and see about getting something posted for next weekend, and we'll try to get it posted earlier.

Blessings -- Looking forward to riding with you guys.

Nice ride today. A bit chilly, overcast all day -- But a great day to take the FatChick out for a dance.

Pending discussion with Randy Wasser, watch this space for a ride next week.

Shiny Side Up! --

OK -- New Plan for the weekend ride Friday 1/13 (How can we miss? Friday 13th!)

The Cranes are here -- The AZ winter population of Sandhill Cranes is stunning, and now is the perfect time to get a view of these enormous birds in great concentrations. The best viewing is at the Whitewater Draw area, southeast of Tombstone, during the mid-day hours from 11 - 1PM or so.

Roll-out Friday 0900 from Catalina K.
2nd Meetup 1000 at the SW corner of the Hwy 83 exit from I-10 (Meet at the Lamarr Cobb memorial).

Route: Catalina K to I-10, South at Vail for Sonoita (Pick up 2nd group) and go East toward Tombstone. The Sonoita route shows 20 mins longer, so likely return via Willcox.

Probably want to find a sandwich takeout along the way (check at Tombstone, or bring something of your own) -- there is nothing out there at the refuge (no water, no food), so bring what you need!

I'll bring some binoculars, but if you have a favorite pair, bring them. Also a bird book -- I'll try to remember to bring my Sibley.

Let me know if you are in, or have questions.
Hope to see some of you there!

JB
