Happy New Year
Well, the new year is upon us which brings a changing of the name. GWRRA will officially close as of 12/31/2022, fortunately some of us will continue as Oklahoma District under a new name. We are honored in being selected to lead our Oklahoma District. We will be available anytime to discuss gatherings, rides, or just social events. Vicki and I will try to keep you informed of all the activities going on in and around the state. We still have a large family out there on 2, 3, or 4 wheels. We are in the process of finalizing all the paperwork to align with Wing’D Riders. For those of you who have joined Wing’d Riders, thank you. For those of you on the fence I hope you continue to ride and meet as we are all one family. I hope in the future you chose to join us. We have just two (2) chapters staying active, Chapter X out of Stillwater and Chapter K out of Ponca City. Many are going solo as a single or couple. We have 64 Wing’D Riders in Oklahoma currently. I will try to keep you informed as the activities in your area, chapter gatherings, rides, and District rallies in the future. If you have friends invite them to join us no matter what they ride.
With Wing’d Rider we are receiving a magazine, insurance to cover events, and a national rally in June. This is cheaper than GWRRA which was a cost of $85.00 for a couple. Wing’d riders is $39.99 for singles and $59.99 for Couples. They are growing and try to continue programs we are acquainted with. Wing’d Riders have accomplished in the few short months from nothing to a great program offering to all motorcycle enthusiasts. We may not all ride the say motorcycles but we all like to put our knees in the breeze. We hope you will join in on the fun in the upcoming coming years. More members mean more things can be offered and chapter and Districts can grow.
The district team is in the process of scheduling our first Oklahoma District Rally under the Wing’d Rider Flag. It is scheduled for October 26-28 in Ponca City. The district is going to start planning for the rally in late January as we meet for the annual operation meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend and make suggestions. We are going to appoint a few officers but not as many as GWRRA requires. We just need a few to help with rides, events, training, and gathering to keep everyone involved. We hope to cover most of the state with rides to keep everyone involved. We plan on publishing calendars for the two chapter which chose to continue with Wing’D Riders so you will have the opportunity to join the activities when the opportunity arises.
