Favorite Rides You Have Taken

In 2019 Norm and I rode from the east coast (leaving from Jackson, Missouri) to the west coast - twice. The first trip to the east coast to the west coast was with the 40 to Phoenix group, leaving from Wilmington, North Carolina. After we arrived in Phoenix and visited with Melissa, Able and the rest of the staff, we rode with some of the 40 to Phoenix bunch to Chula Vista, California. Norm and I rode by ourselves to Encinitas and there we were met by a very nice minister who married us. The second trip that year to the west coast was in the end of May, first part of June. After attending the Missouri District Rally we rode through Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois and back to Missouri. Most of the 3 week trip we traveled on US Highway 2. In 2018 Norm and I rode from Missouri, going through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to visit the Grand Canyon and other interests in Arizona. Norm has ridden in 49 states and Canada on a motorcycle, I have ridden in 47 states and Canada on a motorcycle. It's a way of life and it's been a wonderful way to see our beautiful country while enjoying being on the best motorcycle in the world.

I really look forward to this ride some day. Maybe after I retire I'll have time...maybe...

Black Hills, amazing. Tail of the Dragon was a blast(on a weekday!), Great memories on the BRP. Most recently I rode Scenic Byway 7 through Arkansas on the way down to the final Wing Ding. That road is killer fun! 😀

So two summers ago I decided to go to Wing Ding via historic US 66. I stopped at as many iconic locations as possible between Chicago and Springfield Missouri. It was so enjoyable visiting all of the sites along the way!

Can anybody guess what town this fella is located?20210630_082942.jpg

I ride all over northern Arkansas and have not found a bad road that was paved, and some that were not. I have many great memories of that area already and still hope to make many more.

Rocky mountain national park outside of Estes Colorado is a great trip down to Canyon Co.
Eye of the dragon in Kentucky is also a beautiful trip

Just got back from a 1700 mile trip from Peoria, IL to Eureka Spri vs, AR (all back roads). Hwy 100 to Alton, IL
Then hwy 67to 94 to 19 (Herman, MO) south to Alton, MO turned west to hwy 101 south to 62 in AR west to Eureka Springs, AR. This was all on Thursday-friday Saturday did a 225 mile ride down AR 23 (Pig Trail) down to 352 turned east to Lamar, AR and picked up hwy 123 ( AR answer to the Tail of the Dragon) except much longer Traveled north to Mount Judah picked up hwy 74 west through Jasper, AR picked up hwy 21 to 23 and back to Eureka Springs. Sunday my ridi g buddy and I split he went back to Peoria (work). I spent the next day with daughter and family in Kimberling City, MO and Silver Dollar City. Monday traveled to NW MO to visit family on hwy 13 and then home on Thursday. Beautiful scenery and fantastic roads. We are planning a ride to AR for 4-5 days next year for their mountain roads. I highly recommend the twisty roads of southern MO and AR

Don't you just love riding in Arkansas!! Such awesome roads and scenery. SE Missouri has some of those same kinds of roads as well as the scenery. Both states are just perfect for a weekend ride or a week full of rides. Those kinds of roads are what great memories are made of.

I have to agree that the Arkansas roads are amazing! I mentioned above that I went through Arkansas this past summer heading to Shreveport for the final Wing Ding. I came through Missouri and checked out the Peel ferry. This little ferry is a 20 minute ride across Bull Shoals Lake which was pretty cool. You don't even have to tie down the bikes. Just a smooth relaxing jaunt across the lake. While I was waiting for the ferry 4 Harley riders pulled up and we were the only ones on it. Nice guys, 3 from Denver and 1 was a local. Rode with them for a bit after getting off the boat. After passing through Peel I hooked up with Scenic 7 Byway and that's when the fun really began! Stayed on 7 the whole way down and spent the night in Arkadelphia. That was one of the best single day rides I have experienced!!

I would guess Wilmington, IL?
You are correct! This is the Gemini Giant located in Wilmington, IL outside of the Launching Pad Drive in on historic Rt. 66. It started as a small ice cream shop in the mid fifties and by 1965 became the Launching Pad in commemoration of the current space race to the moon. The statue was named the Gemini Giant after the space program at the time.

one of my favorites was a trip from my home near Charlotte NC to various covered bridges in NC, VA and WV. 4 days and about 14 bridges visited. there were still a number of them that we didn't get to.
