A great option is Ham Radio, Technician class license is easy to get and there is a new handheld radio called an an Anytone which is very sturdy and supports Bluetooth for both send and receive. Crystal clear communication for a couple of miles on simplex, 20 to 40 miles through a repeater. I have chatted with friend going 65 mph and they report my signal is clear and very readable

Tim, is ham compatible with CBs? I thought they were on completely different frequencies.

I had put this up as an alternative to CB. CB in this country has declined significantly. Ham radio is a much cleaner and goes much farther but in answer to your question yes they are in much different frequencies and not compatible

Since this thread is about CB configurations on 2018+ bikes, not ham radios, suggest you start a separate thread about ham radio configurations options.

I'm very sorry if I invaded your thread. I was hoping this organization was forward thinking and more open minded
Enjoy
Apologies for not clearly communicating my intent. I think it would be beneficial to the community to know about ham radio options. To help them learn about ham radios, start a threat about it where the info can be easily found just be looking through the list of threads or from a search. Right now, your information is buried in a thread about CBs for only one generation of bikes. Give details on what parts are needed and how to connect it into the bikes and headsets. Hope that clarifies my intent.

I guess the best thing would be to have a more specific title on your thread then. It says "alternate cb option"
I will happily go back to just reading threads

IMHO let threads go where they go.........no need to tell people to start a new thread and offend/irritate members.
There is little activity on this forum anyways, as it's new......let's start the forum off on a good note and not stifle good conversations.

JMHO...

I did this before everyone switched to Sena mesh. The only downside is the 2 second lag when the system switches from music to CB. Once it switches, it will stay in CB long enough for you to finish the conversation without another lag.
