Posting Chapter Events

This post/question is for Wing'd Rider. I first want to commend you on the editing options you provide for postings. I noticed you have 4 main tabs for your postings.
  • Discussion
  • Article
  • Poll
  • Question
In the future are you going to have a separate section for Districts and Chapters to post upcoming events or will you be adding an Events tab for postings in the forums? It would be nice to have a way to filter by state, chapter or month to see what events may be near you. I don't know if you could design an option where a member could see all posted events within a certain mileage from their location but that may need to be a different discussion. I couldn't resist playing with some of your editing options.

This is a good question. I know I would do more riding to events if I were aware of them. My GWRRA chapter is going to fold and the nearest chapter is about 40 miles away from me. I don't mind riding a long distance to visit other events.

Don ,,,, by the end of this week I will have the STICKYs for each chapter page, on top, that will allow each chapter to upload their weekly/monthly newsletters and schedules so that all members can see them in a timely manner, all year long, with the latest one always at the bottom of that thread's postings ,,,

John, am I missing something as I don't see anything that looks like STICKY's? I'm hoping these STICKY's will allow us to flag posts such as Events, Meetings and Rides like a tag in Facebook where they can be filtered. My assumption is there has been a programming set back adding this feature. Don

William ,,,, you are going to the correct page, but instead of posting on the locked thread, create a NEW POST on that same page, about your ride or event, and it works even better if you put the DATE of your ride or event, in the Heading of the post for everyone in your state to see ,,,,

Yes, I agree with that procedure. Up above you said that people would reply to the stickies so the latest post will always be at the bottom of the sticky thread. At least that's how I understood it. I think making a new post will likely work better.

Thanks for the clarification. (y)

John Lazzeroni, I have gone over to the Kentucky sub forums and have tested entering Chapter events. I did find the option for Stickys when I created the post, and did create labels such as Chapter A, Event, and Meeting, however I don't see any option for doing a search on the stickys or any other way to filter on them. The search function only gives the option to search on TYPE such as Discussion, Article, Poll and Question. I'm experimenting in doing these posts to find the best way to have the chapters create them and then be able to search for them without their being one huge list of posts under Discussion. I was hoping for a TYPE "Events" to be added. At least then we could create labels (stickys) such as District, Chapter A, Chapter C, Chapter G and so forth to use as a filter but I don't see any way to search on the stickys. I'm continuing to post here under this thread as I believe the questions I'm asking affect everyone in how they learn to use the forums and post for their respective states. I will continue to do my test posts under the state to see how I can make it work. I wanted to post our Chapter meeting minutes but didn't want to create an entirely new post for the update. Right now it looks like I would need to post our minutes under my October Chapter A meeting as a reply to stay within that forum stream. I know this is a big learning curve for everyone and glad you are being patient with our questions. Don
